R. J. Feltenberger, Oil Well Driller, Is Dead at Age 89
Raymond J. Feltenberger, 89, of R. D. 1, Kennerdell, life-long and well-known resident of Rockland Township, died suddenly in his home at 6 a. m. today.
The son of John and Margaret Snyder Feltenberger, he was born on Aug. 14, 1874 in Butler County. Mr. Feltenberger had lived his entire life in the Rockland area. An oil well driller he had traveled throughout the West and South­west oil fields, drilling for some of the larger oil companies. In recent years he was a pumper for G. D. McElphatric and the late Richard Hancox.
He attended the Rockland Methodist Church.
He was married to the former Bessie Pryer in 1904 and she died April 29, 1958.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Kerry E. (Alice) Marshall and a son, Milton R. Feltenberger, both of Rockland; two granddaughters. Mrs. George E. (Frances) Himes, Van and Mrs. Ronald E. (Barbara) Miller, New Brighton; three great grandchildren, Ray, Ronald, and Fay Ann Himes, Van; and six brothers, Clinton J. Feltenberger and Mert E. Feltenberger, of Franklin; Delbert Feltenberger, Meadville; David Feltenberger, West Monterey; Richard Feltenberger, Kittanning; and Arthur Feltenberger, Franklin. Two sisters, Mrs. Gilbert (Sabina) DeLong and Mrs. Arthur (Emma) DeLong, preceded him in death.
The body was removed to the Huff Chapel where friends may call at any time.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Chapel at 2 p. m. Monday by the Rev. Elroy Sayers, pastor of the Rockland Methodist Church. Interment will be made in the Rockland Cemetery.
The family has requested that friends please omit flowers.
