General Notes: Husband - Harvey D. Thompson

He was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania, removed with his parents to Greene County at the age of ten years, and remained there until he was sixteen years old. He then went to Pittsburgh to learn the coach-maker's trade, spent four years in that city, and located at Prospect, Butler County, in 1856. He located on his permanent homestead in 1874.
He was a member of the English Lutheran church, in which he filled the office of deacon for two terms. In politics, he was always a Republican, and filled many of the township offices. He was elected sheriff of Butler County in 1869, in which office he served a full term.
In July, 1863, he enlisted in Company A, Sixty-third Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served until the close of the war.
