General Notes: Husband - John B. Hodges

In 1827 he came to Warren County, Pennsylvania, to assist his father in the building of the court house. After its completion he received as compensation for his part in the work some of the county lands awarded to his father. He settled and cleared a farm in Glade township, becoming a successful and prosperous agriculturist. The estate was later known as the Sechrist farm. From the time of his coming to Warren County Mr. Hodges made it his home for the remainder of his life, residing for twenty-five years at Jackson and for a longer period at Russell. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.

He was born in Canada, and was a boy when his father removed to the United States. He assisted his father in building the Warren County court house, and after its completion received from his father a portion of the 2,000 acres which formed part of the compensation. He cleared, cultivated and improved his land, and made his home there during the remainder of his life, engaging in farming and lumbering.
