General Notes: Husband - John A. Hodges

He passed his boyhood on his father's farm in Glade township, Warren County, Pennsylvania, attending the public schools of the neighborhood. He learned the blacksmith's trade, and followed it from the age of fourteen to that of sixty-four, a period of fifty years, when he retired. Though at no time in his life a tiller of the soil, he was the owner of several farms. From 1848 until the close of his life he was a resident of Russell and held several minor offices in the township. He was a member of no church, being a man of great liberality in his religious opinions, his broad-mindedness, combined with unvarying rectitude of conduct, winning for him the confidence and respect of all.
