General Notes: Husband - William John Keep


He was educated at Oberlin College and Union College (Schenectady, NY), where he received the degree of Civil Engineer­ing. He removed to Troy, NY, where he lectured to the senior class in Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute and was connected with the manufacturing plant of Fuller, Warren and Co. He removed to Detroit, MI, where he continued to reside during the remainder of his life. He was a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science; a member of American Institute of Mining Engineers; Iron and Steel Institute (London, Eng.); International Association for Testing Materials; American Foundryman's Associa­tion; Franklin Institute; and Past President of the Detroit Society. He was an honorary member of the Rensselaer Society of Engineers and the Philadelphia Foundryman's Association. He was also a mem­ber of the Sons of the American Revolution, The Ohio Society, and the New England Society. He was an Elder in the Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church. He was the author of many scientific papers, most of which may be found in the published proceedings of the above societies. He was the author of "Cast Iron" published by John Wiley & Sons, NY. He manufactured a line of testing apparatus, and was general super­intendent of the Michigan Stove Co.
