General Notes: Husband - Robert W. McCutcheon

He was educated in the public schools of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and even in boyhood began earning his living by assisting his father on the farm. When fifteen years old he was apprenticed to learn telegraphy, and after becoming proficient served as telegraph operator for two years. Following this he was made agent for the Pennsylvania Railroad Company at Kelly Station, Armstrong County, remaining there for six years, when he was transferred to Rosston. There he served in the same capacity for two years, when he was put in charge at Ford City, in 1888. At that time Ford City was but a hamlet, and the new agent was one of its first settlers.
He belonged to Kittanning Blue Lodge, No. 244, F. & A. M., Orient Chapter, No. 247, R. A. M., also of Kittanning, and Pittsburgh Commandery, No. 1, K. T. For many years he was prominently identified with the Presbyterian Church, and for several years was elder of the Ford City church of that denomination. [HAC 1914, 750]
