General Notes: Husband - Jeremiah Sturgeon

He was a revolutionary soldier of York, Pennsylvania, and came to Pittsburgh with the army. Being well pleased with the location, he brought his bride there at the close of the war.
He was a pioneer of Pittsburgh and owned property on Wood Street, between what was later Fifth Avenue and Diamond Street, where he conducted a hotel. It is authentically recorded that at the first anniversary of the inauguration of Thomas Jefferson as president, March 4, 1802, dinner was given by the leading citizens in the tavern of Citizen Jeremiah Sturgeon at the "Sign of the Cross Keys."
