General Notes: Husband - Samuel Orwig

He received a good elementary education in the schools of that day. He served an apprenticeship at saddle and harness making in Mifflinburg, Union County, Pennsylvania, where he afterward followed the trade for some time, but later in life he devoted his time wholly to agriculture. He was a man of fine physique, and his strong character and good judgment gave him great influence in the community. For many years he was a leading member of the Lutheran Church, and he was prominent in official affairs, holding local offices. Politically he was a Democrat until the organization of the Republican party, which he was among the first to join.

He died August 7, 1874. [CBRCP-CCUS, 856]
