General Notes: Husband - David R. Read

He attended what was known as Friendship school, in Ferguson township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, when he was a boy, and afterward went into the woods and worked at timbering. After his marriage he moved to what was known as the Hockenberry farm, in Ferguson township, after living for a time in Greenwood township. Here he found a great deal of improving necessary and did considerable building, putting up all the substantial structures, except the barn. He carried on general farming.
In politics he was a strong adherent of the Prohibition party. He served as school director and also as overseer of the poor in Ferguson township. With his wife and son he belonged to the Grange at Kerrmoor, and there they also were connected with the United Presbyterian church.
