General Notes: Husband - Solomon Ulman

He was a merchant in Venango County, PA, for over thirty-eight years, and had, sometimes, four branch establishments in that and adjoining counties.

He received a good education in his native city, and was associated with his father in mercantile life. He accompanied the latter to Franklin, but did not return to Philadelphia. He continued in mercantile life and developed the largest business in Venango county and ranked as the leading merchant of his day in Franklin. He was very open handed and generous in his business relations with his customers, always helping those who were deserving through the days of pinching poverty that so frequently overtook the settler at that early day. He was not only the man of business, but catered as well to his fine intellectual taste, having one of the best and largest libraries in Western Pennsylvania.
