General Notes: Husband - Joseph Alexander Scott

His grandfather was a soldier in the American Revolution, entering the Patriot Army at the age of 17 years, after every other member of his family had met death at the hands of the Indians. He remained in the army until the close of the great struggle and was one of the heroes who spent the terrible winter at Valley Forge. He later established his home in Washington County, where he reared a family.

Late in life his father moved from Washington County, Pennsylvania, to Rush County, Indiana.

He followed farming through life and spent many years in Fallowfield Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, where he became a man of influence and substance. In 1835 he went to Peoria, Illinois, where he was married. His wife accompanied him back to Washington County, the journey being made on horseback, and they settled permanently in Fallowfield Township.
