He was one of the earliest settlers of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where he purchased a tract of several hundred acres in Mifflin township, near McKeesport, at about fifty cents per acre, from the government. He cleared a portion of this and erected suitable buildings on it, and there spent his life. He was one of the organizers of the old Lebanon Church, and taught school in the building. He married, and had one child.
