He came from New Jersey and settled in Butler County, PA, in 1801.

He came to Butler County, PA, from New Jersey shortly after the Revolutionary War end­ed, becoming one of the earliest of the pio­neers of Concord Township. He entered actively into the early life of the commu­nity, and was one of the organizers of the old Concord Church. He served in the War of 1812.
