General Notes: Husband - Dr. Charles Edgar Taylor

In 1882 he received from the medical department of the University of the City of New York the degree of Doctor of Medicine, thus being the fourth generation of his family, in unbroken lineal succession, enrolled in the ranks of the medical profession. He then settled at Irwin, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and became a member of the local, county and state medical societies.

He received his preliminary and preparatory training in the schools of his native city, and then entered the University of the City of New York (later Bellevue University Medical College), whence he was graduated, medical department, in the class of 1882 with the degree of Doctor of Medicine. He served an interneship of one year at Bellevue Hospital, New York City, and in 1883 he entered upon the practice of his profession at Irwin, Pennsylvania. He carried on a general practice until 1905, when he began to specialize in surgery, in which department he became engaged exclusively. His skill as a surgeon won him wide recognition in that part of the state, and he was a member of the consulting staff of the Westmoreland Hospital. He was a member of the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania State Medical Society, the College of Physicians of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the Westmoreland County Medical Society.
Dr. Taylor was affiliated with the Republican Party. He was a director of the First National Bank of Irwin, of which he was one of the organizers. He was a member of all the Masonic bodies and of the Kiwanis Club of Irwin.
