General Notes: Husband - John A. Beck


He attended the public schools of Karns City and Butler Business College. He then took the position of office manager in his father's business, and on the death of his father, assumed full charge of the business. In 1922 he was instrumental in having the company incorporated under the laws of the state of Pennsylvania, and he was elected president. Wayne K. Glenn was vice president; Paul R. Beck secretary and treasurer; and Walter W. Beck, general manager.
He was a Republican in politics and he held the office of treasurer as well as being a director of Karns City schools beginning in 1916. He was a member of the German Lutheran Church, in which he was a trustee, while Mrs. Beck held membership in the United Presbyterian Church. Mr. Beck was very prominently affiliated with a number of fraternal orders, being a thirty-second degree Mason, New Castle Consistory; Argyle Lodge No. 540, F. and A. M., past master in 1913; Butler Chapter No. 273, R. A. M.; Lorain Commandery, Knights Templar, No. 87; Syria Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S.; and Syria Caravan, No. 14, A. A. O. N. M. S. His clubs were as follows: Ridge View Country Club and the Sterling Club of Butler. He was a director of the Pennsylvania Grade Crude Oil Association of Oil City; a director of the Pennsylvania Coal Products Company of Petrolia; president and director of the American Oil Works of Titusville, Pennsylvania; one of the organizers and a director of the Mid Penn Refining Company. He also belonged to the United Commercial Travelers Association.
