He was killed in the Battle of the Wilderness, Civil War.

He was a member of Company F, of the Buck Tail Regiment, and died from the effects of a wound received at the battle of Spottsylvania. [HMC 1888, 1083]
He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on July 1, 1863.
