He spent the greater part of his life in Mifflin township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where he was one of the pioneers of the section. He assisted in clearing a great part of the land of timber, and was actively engaged in farming. His political affiliations were with the Republican party, and he was a member of the Methodist church.
