General Notes: Husband - William Aiken, Jr.

He was an early settler of Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and in connection with his brother, Alexander, erected one of the first grist-mills on Slippery Rock creek, in Wayne township.

After attaining his majority he removed from Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, to St. Clairsville, Belmont County, Ohio. In 1801, he returned to Pennsylvania and took up a residence in Wayne township, Lawrence County, and immediately after his settlement there he became interested in the milling industry, and built a carding mill, saw-mill and grist-mill, and was quite busily engaged at this work in connection with some farming until his death at the advanced age of eighty-three years.
In religious matters he was a Presbyterian, having been elder many years. Politically, he was an adherent of the old Whig party.
He died at the age of eighty-three years.
