General Notes: Husband - George Davis

He was a farmer in early manhood, but some short time after the venerable Charles Carroll opened the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, that novel industry won his attention, and he entered the service of the Ohio & Mississippi Railroad Company as engineer. For many years he followed engineering, and, only toward the latter years of his life, did he resume farming.
Immediately after marriage, he and his wife located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; subsequently they moved into Allegheny City, and, in their later years, or about 1854, to Peters township, Washington County, where he died, in his fifty-sixth year. [CBRWC, ]

During the early part of his life he ran a boat on the Ohio river, plying between Pittsburg and Cincinnati. Leaving the river he purchased a farm and followed agricultural pursuits until his death. He and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian Church, and in politics he was a Republican. [HIC 1913, 682]
