General Notes: Husband - David C. Rankin

He was born on the farm in Fairview township, Butler County, PA, a few days after the death of his father. He grew up under the care of his widowed mother, and enjoyed the limited advantages of pioneer days. After marriage he lived for some years on the old homestead, and then removed to the western part of the township, locating on a farm near the village of Fairview in the spring of 1878. He and his wife were the parents of sixteen children, six of whom were still living in 1895. They were members of the United Presbyterian church. He was a Republican beginning at the formation of that party, and filled various township offices.
