General Notes: Husband - Henry Sweitzer

He was a native of Doylestown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and at the age of sixteen years removed to Washington County, Maryland, where he remained for many years, during which time he was elected sheriff of that county and a member of the Legislature. In 1818 he married and removed to Brownsville, entering at once into mercantile business and real estate transactions. He built the stone house on Water Street (later the United States Hotel), which was his residence for many years, and in which all his children were born.
